4Children National Childcare Stars Awards

29/06/2005

June 29th 2005 saw the presentation of the 4Children National Childcare Stars awards held at The Underglobe at Shakespeare’s Globe, London.

Childcare Stars is all about celebrating the dedication of hardworking childcare workers and childcare friendly employers who together are working to make a difference to the daily lives of the children and working parents throughout the UK.

Now in its ninth year, this year’s event was bigger than ever with the opening address given by Cherie Booth QC (Vice President of 4Children) and the introduction of two new awards being given.

The 7 categories of childcare being rewarded were:-

  • Prima Baby Award for the Early Years
  • Prima Childcare Team of the Year
  • SkillsActive Playworker of the Year
  • Childminder of the Year
  • Newcomer of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Employer of the Year for Staff Childcare

Sodexho Pass was particularly proud to be on the judging panel for the awards and to be the sponsor for the Employer of the Year for Staff Childcare. This award highlights the huge strides that have been made within the workplace with employers recognising the needs of working parents and taking steps such as adopting flexible working patterns, implementing childcare voucher schemes and introducing workplace nurseries to take some of the burden away from staff with childcare responsibilities.
The winner of this very closely run award was HSBC plc.

Runners up in the category were Kingston Hospital Trust and Kingston PCT, The Metropolitan Police and Microsoft.
