Sodexho Pass and Daycare Trust research employers' attitudes to childcare vouchers
20/12/2004
The Employers and Childcare Conference on the 30th November saw Sodexho Pass and Daycare Trust welcome 200 employers to a day packed with information on how employers can support working parents.
A survey conducted on the day aimed to measure how employers really see one of the most attractive employee benefits - childcare vouchers. The results showed that:
- Most employers are hearing about childcare vouchers via the media (46% - news coverage and industry press)
- Most employers use childcare vouchers in order to improve recruitment and retention (16%), as well as to raise the organisation’s profile as an employer of choice (16%)
- Cost is ultimately the deciding factor (13%) for many when choosing a childcare voucher scheme but other factors such as adherence to legislation, professionalism and reliability also feature highly (12%, 12% and 11% respectively)
- The implications on pensions and benefits is by far the greatest deterrent when setting up a childcare voucher scheme (41%) as well as the time and effort of set-up (30%). Already offering a range of other benefits does not deter employers from offering childcare vouchers to staff.
